  • An historic Hardy pre-production/prototype Ocean reel made in walnut .
  • Hardy opted to make this reel in ebonite please observe pages 537/538 in John Drewett,s book THE MASTERS THE MEN AND THEIR REELS
  • This reel was probably made by Arthur Wall circa 1911 as relayed in the book
  • The brake lever is exactly the same as in illustation 528 however the spool is exactly like illustration526

  • the box and brochure are in poor condition although the printing on the brouchure is clear ,clean and legible
  • The reel is in excellent condition ,with no defects ,the ribbed brass foot is perfect as is the ivorine trigger handle
  • The spool spins freely on its jewel bearing and the casting adjustment rotates freely
  • This reel dates from  1928
  • This is the actual reel in GRAHAM TURNERS BOOK page 199 lowest right illustration
